Madrid System

The Madrid System is an international system for registering and managing trademarks in multiple countries around the world. It is administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and is comprised of two main treaties: the Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol.

Under the Madrid System, a trademark owner can file a single application with WIPO to register their trademark in multiple countries that are party to the Madrid Agreement or Protocol. The application is then examined by WIPO and, if approved, is sent to the trademark offices of the designated countries for review and registration.
